Malinda Atchison was born in 1801 in Kentucky to parents Hamilton and Isabella Hellena Dennsion Atchison. She was one of the younger of five children. In 1825 in Fayette County, she married James S. Headley. Together the couple had four sons: Hamilton "Hammie" Atchison, George Washington, James Alexander, and William Headley. Malinda died at the age of 49 in 1850 in Fayette County, Kentucky.
