The Russell line comes into the family tree two ways. The first is with Kazia Russell. Kazia's grandfather was Samuel Russell, born in Northern Ireland to a family of Scottish ancestry (commonly referred to as Scotch-Irish) in the year 1759. Samuel moved to the United States and settled in Nelson County, Kentucky where he married Sarah Brown. One of Samuel and Sarah's children was Nathaniel Russell who was born in Nelson County on April 17, 1804. Nathaniel was married three times, and it was during his first marriage, to Margaret Cain, that his daughter Kazia was born on January 17, 1837 in Spencer County, Kentucky. Kazia married Benjamin Louis Garr on June 3, 1856 in Spencer County, Kentucky. Benjamin and Kazia had four children together, including a son named Charles Russell Garr. Charles married Sallie Rebecca Crain and they became the parents of Charles Crain Garr and Clyde Lewis Garr, and the grandparents of Elisabeth Garr Lawrence and Charlotte Russell Garr Schubert
