Family History

Jane Hunter Holmes was born on May 22, 1802 in Lexington, Kentucky to parents Robert and Susanna Chinn Holmes. On December 20, 1821, Jane married John C. Miller. Miller was a lawyer turned planter from Scott County. When he became a planter, John purchased a large tract of land in Mississippi, and once he married he and his family split their time between between there and Kentucky. Jane and John had five children together, and Jane outlived all but one of them.

Susan Holmes was born in February of 1804 to parents Robert and Susanna Chinn Holmes. She married Mitchum Boswell Webb on February 6, 1826. Together they had two daughters: Mary Boswell and Bettie Chinn. Susan passed away on May 23, 1871 at the age of 67.
